The escalating controversy that has rocked the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has moved beyond hushed whispers, with stakeholders now warning that continued silence from the highest levels of government may be interpreted as complicity and breach of public and political trust.
LEADERSHIP reports that, the chairman Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) Hope Uzodimma is allegedly grappling with a severe crisis of confidence as mounting allegations regarding the management of collective funds by its leadership spark great concerns .
At the heart of the brewing storm are serious inquiries into the stewardship of resources entrusted to the forum for political purposes.
Meanwhile critics argued that when questions of financial opacity arise, the honorable course of action involves stepping aside to facilitate transparency, but on the contrary, the current atmosphere has been described as increasingly combative, with detractors accusing the leadership of employing media aggression and smear campaigns to deflect from legitimate scrutiny.
A political analyst, Ike Maduike while speaking on the issue highlighted the delicate nature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) coalition, noting that the party was meticulously constructed through discipline and the subordination of personal ambition.
Maduike observed that the PGF is a vital pillar of this “fragile architecture,” yet it is currently being subjected to public embarrassment and internal distrust.
He reminded stakeholders that while the house of the APC was built by many hands, the individuals currently at the center of the storm were not among its primary architects, making the current instability even more tragic for those who sacrificed to build the party.
“The implications of this friction extend far beyond personal or administrative disagreement. If governors and party stakeholders begin to view their contributions with suspicion, the moral foundation of the entire institution weakens.
Maduike is also worried that the internal instability arrives at a sensitive time as Nigeria moves toward another electoral cycle, a period where the ruling party requires absolute strategic coherence rather than the resentment and factionalism currently festering within the forum.
He insisted that pressure is now mounting on President Bola Tinubu to intervene decisively adding that the consensus among party insiders is to allow the situation to remain unchecked which signals that individual influence can override institutional accountability.
“There is a growing sentiment that no single official should be allowed to outgrow the body they serve or treat questions from colleagues as acts of rebellion.
Maduike called on President Bola Tinubu to preserve the integrity of the structure that brought his administration to power, reinforcing the principle that transparency is a requirement of leadership, not a form of persecution.
