The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has averted a tragedy as it rescued a 63-year-old man trapped inside a well at a residential building located in the Egan-Igando area of the state.
Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Margaret Adeseye disclosed that man who was trapped in a 120-metre-deep well was successfully rescued on Sunday.
According to her, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded to a life-threatening distress call, Sunday 09:54 hours at 20, Muyibi Adebayo Street, off Agric Road, Egan-Igando, Lagos.
“On arrival at the scene of an emergency, it was discovered that a 63-year-old man, Akin Kuboye reportedly got trapped incidentally while working in a 120m deep well at the rear side of a bungalow building consisting of 14 rooms of varying sizes, in premises covering an area of about 648 square metres.”
Adeseye added, “The tenacity of the Ejigbo Rescue Crew of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service successfully brought the acclaimed plumber alive from the well and handed over to the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to stabilise him from the effect of inhaled ammonia gas before transporting him to the hospital for further treatment.”
