Not fewer than 80 households have been displaced when floods ravaged some communities in Langtang South local government area of Plateau State following a heavy downpour, which started on Friday through Sunday morning.

The incident has thrown the people of the area into utter confusion and panic as most of the affected persons were stranded and in search of refuge.

Meanwhile, a resident of Angwan Bwarat in Sabo Gida community, Nandul Solomon in a telephone interview with our correspondent said, “Although, the flood didn’t claim lives, but because it was huge, it displaced over 80 households. The displaced persons are currently staying with neighbours or friends and relatives.”

Similarly, the secretary, Community Development Committee of Sabon Gida, Mr Yintim Yohanna Nimilam, who spoke to our correspondent, lamented the unfortunate incident.

Nimilam confirmed that several residents were displaced and seeking refuge with relatives even as he appealed to the state government and other relevant agencies to come to the aid of the affected persons.
