The project, announced by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, during a courtesy visit to the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, sees the headquarters relocated from Lagos State to Rivers State, highlighting its crucial positioning in an oil-rich and strategically important region.

Vice Admiral Ogalla emphasised the relocation’s critical role in bolstering the Nigerian Navy’s operational capabilities.

“This relocation marks a significant strategic move, underscoring the importance of situating the Navy Training Command in Rivers State, an area pivotal for maritime security, anti-oil theft operations, and defense initiatives in the Niger Delta,” he stated.

Governor Fubara hailed the new facility as a milestone for both the state and the Navy, reinforcing Rivers State’s growing significance in national security frameworks.

The Navy Training Command’s new headquarters is expected to enhance the Navy’s readiness and effectiveness in addressing maritime security challenges in the Niger Delta region.
