The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has handed over three vehicles loaded with bottles of beer to the Kano State Hisbah Board for destruction.

A statement on Thursday by KAROTA spokesperson, Abubakar Ibrahim Sharada, disclosed that operatives of the agency intercepted the vehicles during night patrol across major routes in Kano metropolis.

“The vehicles were seized with 410 cartons of beer during a night patrol by KAROTA operatives on major roads in Kano,” Sharada said.

During the handover, KAROTA’s Director of Administration and General Services, Mahmud Haido, explained that the trucks contained “4,920 bottles of beer that were being transported for delivery to various locations within Kano city.”

He added that the interception was part of the agency’s broader effort to curb the inflow of prohibited goods into the state.

He further assured that the agency would sustain its vigilance in preventing the circulation of intoxicating substances that could harm public health and morals.

Receiving the vehicles and seized beer on behalf of the Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, CSH Sani Nasidi Uba Rimo, commended KAROTA for its commitment.

Rimo assured that “all legal procedures will be followed before the beer is completely destroyed.”

He also reaffirmed Hisbah’s readiness to continue collaborating with KAROTA to halt the inflow of prohibited items into the state.
