The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has uncovered a major fake results syndicate operating within the institution, leading to the suspension of five staff members, including a Deputy Registrar.

Professor Ogbo made the revelation during a press briefing in Lokoja on Wednesday evening, describing the discovery as “a serious threat to the integrity and reputation” of the Polytechnic.

According to him, a detailed investigation carried out by the Polytechnic’s Admission, ICT, and Security Units exposed a network of individuals, including students, non-students, and staff, who were involved in forging National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) results for personal gains.

He disclosed that while five staff members have been suspended, some suspects, including one Mr. Dominic Egwuda, were still at large.

“We will not allow anyone to destroy the integrity of Kogi State Polytechnic,” Prof. Ogbo declared. “All those involved will face appropriate disciplinary measures and prosecution.”

The Rector reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on academic fraud, assuring that the Polytechnic’s quality assurance and security systems remained intact.

He emphasised that the school management was committed to upholding the institution’s credibility and restoring public confidence in its processes.

“Our commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity is unwavering. We will continue to sanitise the system and ensure that only hard work is rewarded,” Prof. Ogbo added.
