The Nigerian Corrections Service (NCoS), Kwara State Command, on Tuesday, decorated 391 newly promoted officers.
It also commissioned the first photo stand at the event held at the Command Headquarters, Flower Garden Area, Ilorin.
A statement signed by the public relations officer of the command, CSC Philip Olumide Adegbulugbe, said the decoration of the officers followed the recently approved promotion exercise that cut across senior and junior cadres. It’s the largest promotion exercise in the history of the Command.
The newly promoted officers include a deputy controller of Corrections, five assistant controllers, 14 chief superintendents, 25 superintendents, 91 deputy superintendents, 74 assistant superintendents I, 54 assistant superintendents II, 13 inspectors, 30 chief correctional assistants, 44 senior correctional assistants and 40 correctional assistants I.
The ceremony was presided over by the state’s Controller of Corrections, Tolorunshagba Femi Emmanuel, and was attended by representatives of sister security agencies, heads of government parastatals, officers-in-charge of custodial centres, retired officers, as well as families of the promoted officers.
In his address, Emmanuel congratulated the officers and charged them to justify their elevation through enhanced professionalism, discipline, and commitment to the core mandate of the Service.
He expressed appreciation to the minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the controller-general of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, for their leadership and sustained commitment to staff welfare and institutional development.
