Governors of the five South-eastern States have declared that peace was cardinal to the economic development and progress of the South-East region.

The declaration came on the heels of the unveiling of the Peace In South-East Project (PISE-P) in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State on Friday, December 29, 2023.

The project, initiated by the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, seeks non-kinetic means of resolving the security challenges in the region.

The declaration was made before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented at the unveiling ceremony by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
