Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Wase local government area of Plateau State have hailed the recent directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to state governors to ensure rancour-free primary elections in their states.

They spoke in Wase during the presentation of APC Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Maje, to seek a sixth term in office.

LEADERSHIP reports that the forms were bought through crowdfunding by Wase Equity Project (WEP).

The chairman of the group, Hassan Garba, who spoke at the event, noted that the directive by President Tinubu was a signal towards achieving unity of purpose within the party.

According to him, leadership is measured not by words alone, but by visible achievements, courage in difficult times, and commitment to the welfare of the people.

He insisted that Hon. Maje had consistently demonstrated these qualities through impactful representation, strategic leadership and deep love for the people of Wase.

Also, the member representing Wase State Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibrahim Galadima, pointed out that the former deputy speaker’s track record had endeared him to the people, and that the Wase Equity Project had therefore encouraged him to seek re-election to the hallowed chambers.

He appealed to the people of Wase Local Government Area and the leadership of the APC to entrust Maje with the mandate to continue serving the people come 2027.

The former chairman of Wase local government area, Dr Ado Buba, said they are rooting for Maje to go and represent Wase constituency for the 6th term because of his performance

According to him, the Nigerian constitution provides unlimited terms for legislators due to their role in a democratic setting.

On the protest by some sections of Wase constituency against the 20 years of Maje’s representation, Buba said, ” That is the beauty of democracy. They are free to air their opinion, but the most important thing is the ballot box.

Mr Shehu Nyalong, secretary of Wase Equity Project, in his remarks, called on the people of Wase and the entire Plateau State to support the aspirations of President Bola Tinubu and Maje for purposeful leadership in Wase constituency and the entire country.

The publicity secretary of the group, Abubakar Badu, in his address, described Maje as a maestro of legislation and networking.

According to Badu the federal lawmaker has used his intellectual acumen and position to lift the people in the hinterlands of Wase.
