Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has described tonight’s friendly against Poland as a vital opportunity to measure the team’s progress under new coach Éric Chelle.

The Nigerian side will face the Polish national team tonight at Warsaw’s PGE Narodowy Stadium, with Ndidi stressing that while victory is important, the real value lies in the challenge posed by a strong European opponent.

“Winning matters, but so does development. Facing a top team like Poland will tell us a lot about where we stand and what we need to build for the future,” Ndidi told przegladsportowy.onet.

The match marks only the second meeting between the two nations. Their first encounter took place in Wrocław in March 2018, when a Victor Moses penalty secured a 1-0 win for Nigeria during their build-up to the World Cup in Russia.

Ndidi acknowledged that past result but quickly shifted focus to the present. “That was a great match in an amazing atmosphere, and we won. But that was eight years ago. What counts now is tomorrow—our preparation and our motivation.”
