The Office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has filed criminal charges of forgery and providing false information against Igboegwu Obiora and George Igboegwu, before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
Obiora, George and their firm, Derick Brown Homes & Property Limited, are charged with an eight-count mark (FHC/L/1024c/2025) before Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa.
The prosecutor, Jude Kpandegh, a Chief Superintendent of Police, stated that the defendants, with addresses at 5, Launder Drive, Manor Garden Estate, Lagos; 1, Westron Close, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos; and Suite C124, Ikota Shopping Complex, VGC, Lekki, respectively, committed offences between 2021 and 2023.
They are accused of criminal conspiracy, forcible entry, forgery, making false documents, and possessing forged documents that they falsely presented as genuine.
Specifically, the prosecutor alleges that the defendants forged and created false Deeds of Assignment and architectural designs related to a parcel of land measuring 8,875.088 square meters at Ibasa village, Ijegun/Egba, Amuwo Odofin LGA, Lagos.
They are also accused of conduct likely to cause a breach of peace or create a reasonable fear of such breach by entering the land at Ibasa village.
The police further claimed that on June 18, 2024, at Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 in Onikan, Lagos, they are alleged to have submitted a petition containing false information to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police against Osa Osunde and his company, Southpoint Oil and Gas Limited, intending to have them prosecuted on false grounds.
Kpandegh maintained that the alleged offences violate Sections 516, 465, 125, and 81, and are punishable under Section 473 of the Criminal Code Act, as well as Section 1(2)(c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, LFN 2004.
At the last sitting of the court, the prosecutor noted that all defendants had not yet been served and requested a short date to effect service.
Justice Lewis-Allagoa adjourned the case to February 26, 2026, for the arraignment of the defendants.
