The police on Monday charged three men before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun, for allegedly stealing 300 litres of diesel worth N440,000.

The defendants are: John Gyang, 35; Saheed Rufia, 30; and Rabiu Masidu, 20.

The trio, whose addresses were not provided, was arraigned on charges of conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property.

They each pleaded guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs Abosede Sarumi, consequently ordered their remand to the correctional service pending a review of the facts.

The court adjourned the case until January 28 for a hearing.

In the charge, the prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendants, who worked as staff of one Dokkal Khairu Nigeria Ltd, conspired to steal 300 litres of diesel.

He said that the diesel is valued at N440,000.

The prosecutor said that Masidu and Rufia conspired to receive 50 litres of the stolen diesel, valued at N80,000.
