Police Arrest 17, Kill 3 Suspected Kidnappers In Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested 17 suspected kidnappers and neutralised three others in the last two months in Abuja.

The suspects were arrested after thorough police investigation and tracking of their activities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Adewale Ajao, said the Police Command conducted a thorough crime-mapping, identified crime hotspots and implemented an action plan which led to their arrests and other successes recorded between May and June, 2025.

He further explained that during the months under review, a total of 49 cases were reported, leading to the arrest of 82 suspects in total for various crimes by operatives of the FCT Police Command.

The police report also showed that five reported cases of attempted kidnapping – one in Apo and four in Kubwa – were recorded, while four vehicles, jack-knife, military camouflage and pistol ammunition were recovered in the process.

On the cases of armed robbery, the police report showed that five suspected cases were recorded between May and June while 17 suspects were arrested.

The Police Commissioner also said four cases of child trafficking were recorded in the months under review, while eight suspects were arrested.

The police recovered three AK 47 rifles with three magazines, one locally made pistol and magazine, one barreta pistol, one pump action shotgun, two LAR rifles and 36 rounds of live ammunition in the same period.

Other exhibits recovered include: one axe, nine walkie-talkies, one sharp spear, one short knife, which were all from robbery cases; while one AC Unit, two motorcycles, 27 iron rods, nine mobile phones, 11 power banks, three Air Pods, one smart watch, eight ATM cards, six phone chargers, one sumac fireman generator set, and N79,000 cash were recovered from theft cases.
