Operatives of the Akwa Ibom state Police Command have raided some criminal hideouts in an intelligence-led operation in Uyo, the state capital, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of numerous stolen items.

Disclosing this in Uyo, on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Timfon John said the arrest was in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Baba Azare.

“An operation was launched at approximately 1:15am of May 23rd, 2025. The raid resulted in the arrest of Babangida Idris Usman and Awalu Abdullahi, both suspected receivers of stolen property.

“Among the items recovered were 14 sewing machine heads and a generator. So far, two complainants have come forward and positively identified their stolen machines among the recovered items,” she said.

The police spokespersons added that investigation into the matter was ongoing.
