The Imo State Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly defiling a 12- year-old girl in the state.
In a release, the Command stressed that the suspects, after thorough investigation, were said to have had a carnal knowledge of the minor on different occasions which made her develop serious injuries as well as sexually transmitted disease.
The Spokesman of the Command, Henry Okoye, in a statement gave the suspects’ names as Joseph Onyema, aged 35, Uzoma Nwanoreze, aged 30 and Eberehukwu Nwosu, aged 43 years of age.
“Detectives of the Imo State Police Command through painstaking and diligent investigations have arrested three suspects who defiled a 12-year-old minor.
“Investigation revealed that the suspects had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor on different occasions which made her develop serious virginal injuries as well as a sexually transmitted disease,” Okoye said.
The PPRO revealed that the victim is currently receiving intense medical care at the hospital and indicated that the suspects will have their day in court upon completion of a discreet investigation.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma condemned the barbaric acts in totality, and called on the well-meaning residents of the state to support the Police in the onslaught against defilement, rape, and other sexual related crimes in the State.
He added that such societal menace is utterly condemnable and vowed that the perpetrators will be made to face the wrath of the law.
