The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered weapons following a violent clash between rival thugs popularly known as ‘Yan Daba’ in Kabara and Magashi Quarters of Kano metropolis, which left one person dead and two others injured.

The incident occurred at about 10:53pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

According to the statement, the clash was allegedly led by “Usaini Noni of Kabara Quarters and Umar Tautau of Magashi Quarters” and “terrorised residents,” resulting in the death of Adam Badamasi, also known as Choli, while Ahmed Basiru and Akilu Usman sustained injuries.

CSP Kiyawa said that “upon receipt of the report, combined teams of Police Officers swiftly responded to the incident,” adding that the area was immediately cordoned off.

He noted that three suspects; Bazallahi Umar, 20; Abdullahi Umar, 20; and Abubakar Sani, 23, were arrested, while the injured victims were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where “one was certified dead.”

The command also reassured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to provide timely information to security agencies.
