The Kano State Police Command have arrested two notorious armed robbery suspects and recovered a large quantity of illicit drugs worth over N42 million in a major operation within the state.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, announced in a statement that the suspects—Nura Sani, a 20-year-old male from Zango Town, Bauchi State, and Ibrahim Lawan, a 35-year-old male from Katsina State—were apprehended in connection with a daring robbery that occurred on September 14, 2025, at Tokarawa Quarters.

He explained that, during the operation, the suspects, armed with dangerous weapons, stormed a residence and made away with a Mercedes-Benz GLK valued at N26.5 million, along with phones and other valuables.

In a separate operation, police operatives recovered 540 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules valued at N40.5 million in Jalli Village, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area.

“The command also intercepted two suspects on September 30, 2025, at approximately 11:15 AM. A surveillance team arrested Alhaji Isyaku Babayo of K/Mazugal and Mohd Ahmed of Dorayi Babba at the Trailer Park in Dangauro.

“The suspects were found in possession of seven bags of suspected liquid intoxicant, commonly known as “Akuskura,” containing 2,450 bottles with an estimated value of N2.45 million,” Kiyawa explained.

He further noted that the Command has handed over all recovered cases, including suspects and contraband worth over N120 million – comprising suspected Tramadol, Pregabalin, and Cannabis Sativa – to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command for further investigation.

He quoted the state Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Bakori, as having commended the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved in the operations and assured that efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest other suspects at large and recover all stolen items.
