The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Sirajo Ali, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl and threatening her life with a knife in Bundot community, Dass local government area of the state.
The Command said the incident was reported on July 28, 2026, when a 29-year-old resident of Bundot reported to the Police Division that the suspect had lured his younger sister into his room.
According to the police, the victim stated that upon entering the room, the suspect brought out a knife and threatened to kill her if she shouted or told anyone. He allegedly went on to have unlawful carnal knowledge of the teenager.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued yesterday.
He said detectives from the Dass Division immediately swung into action upon receiving the report, leading to the prompt arrest of the suspect.
Habib added that officers visited the scene of the incident and recovered the knife allegedly used in the commission of the crime was recovered as an exhibit.
PPRO said the case is currently under investigation at the Division and will soon be transferred to the Gender Laboratory of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has condemned the act in strong terms and reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for victims of sexual violence.
He further urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the Police without delay.
