Abia State Police command has announced the arrest of a youth it referred to as principal suspect in the murder of a final year student of Abia State University Uturu, in March.

The suspect, one Emmanuel Victor, is alleged to be a member of a cult group that killed Emmanuel Uche, a final year student of History and International Relations in the university.
This was contained in a press statement by the command’s police public relations officer, Mureen Chinaka, which was sighted by LEADERSHIP Sunday, yesterday.

“Acting on credible intelligence on April 18, 2024, at about 11.00hrs, a team of police detectives from the command apprehended the principal suspect at Isuikwuato.

“The suspect was captured in a video committing the murder. He has confessed to the crime and is in lawful custody. He will be charged in court.”

Meanwhile, both public and private schools in the state will resume on Monday, except those earlier sealed by the government over non-compliance with set standards.

Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ikechukwu Oriuwa gave the directive in a statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the capital.
The statement enjoined parents and guardians to release their children and wards to school as teaching and learning would commence immediately.
