Operatives of the Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected armed robbers, recovered a stolen Mercedes Benz GLK, dangerous firearms and stolen valuables.
The suspect, identified as Chinedu Eze, was apprehended while attempting to sell the vehicle to an unsuspecting buyer.
The operations, carried out between August 4 and 5, 2025, were led by the Divisional Police Officers, (DPO) of B Division Asaba and Ogwashi-Ukwu, working in concert with local vigilante groups.
Disclosing the incidents, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta Command, SP Bright Edafe in a release, said officers of B Division Asaba, acting on credible intelligence on August 5, intercepted a suspected stolen Mercedes Benz GLK (Registration Number: NZM10AP) at a parking lot on former Deputy Governor’s Road in Asaba.
“Investigations revealed that the SUV had been violently snatched at gunpoint in April 2023 in Abakpa, Enugu State, during which the rightful owner was shot by armed robbers. The vehicle was fraudulently re-registered in 2025,” he said.
In a separate incident on August 4, around 4:30 a.m, police in Ogwashi-Ukwu responded to a distress call about armed robbers terrorising residents along Chelsea Street.
The DPO, CSP Okoyomon Israel, swiftly mobilised his Anti-Crime Squad and local vigilantes to the scene leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Thywill Selvin, 22 years, of Poly Road, Ogwashi-Ukwu, and 32-year-old Guntim Bako of Kwale Junction.
The PPRO said the suspects were arrested after a failed escape attempt.
“One pump action rifle with one live cartridge, one Beretta pistol with six live rounds, three live assault rifle ammunition, two stolen motorcycles (Daylong, Reg No: SAP 369 VK; Qu link, Reg No: URM 750 QV), 25 mobile phones, four laptops, a tablet, a PS4 console, a home theatre, two music players, five bags of clothing and other valuables were recovered from them” the police spokesman revealed.
Edafe further said several victims have since identified and recovered their items.
