The suspect, identified as Chinedu Eze, was apprehended while attempting to sell the vehicle to an unsuspecting buyer.

The operations, carried out between August 4 and 5, 2025, were led by the Divisional Police Officers, (DPO) of B Division Asaba and Ogwashi-Ukwu, working in concert with local vigilante groups.

Disclosing the incidents, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Delta Command, SP Bright Edafe in a release, said officers of B Division Asaba, acting on credible intelligence on August 5, intercepted a suspected stolen Mercedes Benz GLK (Registration Number: NZM10AP) at a parking lot on former Deputy Governor’s Road in Asaba.

“Investigations revealed that the SUV had been violently snatched at gunpoint in April 2023 in Abakpa, Enugu State, during which the rightful owner was shot by armed robbers. The vehicle was fraudulently re-registered in 2025,” he said.
