Police operatives in Bauchi State have arrested four individuals suspected to have been involved in a criminal conspiracy and theft of a tricycle.
The state command said in a statement yesterday that, “On August 20, 2024, the police operatives at ‘C’ Police Divisional headquarters took action and successfully arrested four individuals involved in a criminal conspiracy and attempted misappropriation of a tricycle.”
The statement signed by the police public relations officer (PPRO), SP Mohammed Wakil said, “The tricycle, with registration number BAU 401 WB and body number 3566, was discovered in suspicious circumstances at Madina Quarters and reported to the ‘C’ Divisional Police headquarters.”.
According to him, upon receiving the report, the divisional police officer promptly led a team to the scene and apprehended four young men who were found attempting to dismantle and steal the tricycle.
SP Wakil explained that upon further investigation, it was uncovered that the prime suspect, Muwafaqa Auwal, 21, had conspired to fake a robbery of the tricycle.
“Auwal had been entrusted with the tricycle by a neighbour for commercial use within the metropolitan area, but instead of honouring the agreement, he planned to stage a robbery and sell the tricycle,” Wakil revealed.
SP Wakil assured that the state police command is committed to upholding law and order in the state and urged the public to collaborate with the command by reporting suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
