The Zone 13 Police Command has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that the postponement of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) elections was caused by manipulation by the committee’s national leadership.
In a statement issued on Friday by the zonal police public relations officer, ASP Chidera Oha, on behalf of the assistant inspector general of police in charge of Zone 13, the command described the publication as “entirely false, unfounded and misleading.”
ording to the police, the decision to postpone the elections was taken to accommodate other important zonal engagements and official activities, while also ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are able to participate in the electoral process.
The command urged members of the public to disregard the claims, describing them as the handiwork of individuals seeking to misinform the public and create unnecessary panic and anxiety.
It also advised the media, stakeholders and members of the public to rely only on information released through the Zonal Police Public Relations Office, warning against treating unverified reports as authentic.
