The Nigeria Police Force, Special Fraud Unit (PSFU) has invited an investigative journalist and publisher of ‘Secret Reporters’, Fejiro Oliver, for a fact-finding interview.
The invitation letter dated January 19, 2026 signed by DCP Matthew Obiuwevbi on behalf of the commissioner of police with reference case number CR 3000 X SFU DIP VOL 70532, stated that the unit was investigating a matter requiring clarifications.
The PSFU is a specialised arm of the Force Criminal Investigation Department which focuses on serious and complex fraud cases including those with international dimensions.
The letter addressed to the media house asked the platform to appear for interview with the commissioner of police on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 10:00 am through the team manager, Diplomatic Fraud Section at Sunday Adewusi House, 13 Milverton Road Ikoyi, Lagos.
The police said the invitation and interview were for a fact-finding exercise to advance criminal justice delivery and fairness and advised the invitee to bring a lawyer.
Reacting, the spokesman of Online Publishers Association, Chidi Nduka, said the frequent harassment of its members after publication was no longer acceptable.
He said the association would monitor the situation on Monday to see what happens because media houses cannot be gagged in the advanced society.
