Police Kill Four Suspected Cultists In Rivers

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command yesterday killed four suspected members of the Deygbam Cult group during a gun duel at Ndele community in Emohua local government area of Rivers State.

Briefing newsmen at the police headquarters in Port Harcourt, the commissioner of police, Nwonyi Emeka, said those killed were among cultists that invaded villages in the community.

Nwonyi stated that four persons were beheaded during the invasion of the two villages on May 30, 2023.

He recalled that in his maiden speech, he promised to tackle all manner of crime and criminality.

He said: “On June 2, 2023, the Deygbam cultists invaded Ndele community. The spokesman, Rumuji Police Divisional headquarters mobilised patrol teams to the community.

“Personnel of Rumuji Police Division and local vigilante group, acting on credible intelligence intercepted the cultists and in exchange of gun fire, some of the cultists, Chinomezi aka Nick, Aaro the Armourer, Chinza Orji, Okunna aka Okosa were killed.

The commissioner listed exhibits recovered from the hoodlums as two pump action guns, one locally made gun and empty cartridges of AK-47 rifle.
