Lagos State Police Command has announced the launch of a tactical security unit code named “Operation Flush” to curb the prevalent cases of traffic robbery in the Lagos metropolis.

It was gathered that the unit was formed due to recent agitations by some residents of the state concerning complaints of resurgence of traffic robberies and other disturbances around the state.

The police in a statement by the command spokesperson, Ben Hundeyin, a superintendent of police, said the state commissioner of police, Idowu Owohunwa summoned a meeting with all area commanders, divisional police officers, tactical commanders and other strategic officers.

He said, “At the meeting, CP Owohunwa, unequivocally warned all DPOs against dereliction of duty, vowing that any officer found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with laid down rules.

“He equally charged them to review their respective security architecture towards improving security in their respective AORs and stamping out completely all forms of traffic robbery and other vices.
