Police Launch Probe As Hunters Bust Kidnappers’ Den, Arrest 2 Suspects In Ondo

No fewer than two suspected kidnappers have been arrested by local hunters in Owo town, the headquarters of Owo local government area of Ondo State.

According to a video circulating on social media, the suspects were arrested and taken to Owo town by the hunters on Friday night.

In the video, the suspected kidnappers were seen tied down and being interrogated on their modus operandi by residents of the area.

Also, items recovered from the suspects, such as guns, cutlasses, cans of beer, and energy drink, among others, were displayed by the hunters.

One of the residents of the community, who do not want his name mentioned on condition of anonymity, confirmed the development to the LEADERSHIP.

The source said, “It was hunters that arrested them yesterday (Friday) when they stormed their hideouts in the bush. Some of them (kidnappers) ran away while the two were arrested and brought to the town.”

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olayinka Ayanlade, admitted that he saw the said viral video and the Police Command has commenced an investigation into it.

According to the PPRO, “I saw the video too, and we have commenced an investigation into it.”
