The lifeless body of a middle-aged man has been discovered near the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The deceased, whose identity remained unknown at press time, was reportedly found in the early hours of Friday, April 17, 2026, close to the school.
Checks by LEADERSHIP indicated that the body was already in a state of decomposition, with flies hovering around it, which suggested that the victim may have been killed elsewhere and dumped at the location.
The Acting Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, ASP Victor Mshelizah, confirmed the incident, stating that the body had been evacuated and deposited at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) morgue in Jalingo.
He added that the remains had been taken into custody while investigations were ongoing to ascertain its identity.
ASP Mshelizah said it was too early to determine the identity of the deceased or the cause of death, noting that further details were being awaited from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) handling the case.
He, however, appreciated members of the public for their cooperation and support to the Police.
