Police Nab Woman With Ammunition In Palm Oil Gallon

Police in Nasarawa State at the weekend arrested a woman with 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil in Keffi.

The woman, Hauwa Sani who was with a two-year-old child was said to be from Doro village in Katsina State.

A statement by the state police spokesman, DSP Ramhan Nansel in Lafia yesterday said the woman received the ammunition from Doma local government area of Nasarawa State, but was arrested on her way back to Katsina.

He said; “On 23/8/2024 at about 1710hrs, based on credible information, police operatives attached to Keffi Division intercepted and got one Hauwa Sani ‘F’ alongside a two year old child of Doro village, Katsina State arrested.

“Consequently, 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil, one Tecno mobile phone and N78,500 were recovered from the suspect as exhibits.

“Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect received supply of the ammunition at Rafin sanyi village of Doma Local government area of Nasarawa State, and concealed the items in a gallon of palm oil en route Katsina State before nemesis caught up with her.”

He said the commissioner of police in the state, Mr. Umar Shehu Nadada, had ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibit to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters Abuja for further investigation.
