Bayelsa State command of the Nigerian Police Force has paraded three suspected kidnappers who have carried out criminal operations for seven years involving 10 high profile abductions and collected some millions of naira in ransom.

The suspects identified as Emmanuel Charles Angase, 37 years who hails from Azuzuama community in Southern Ijaw local government area; 30-year-old John Ikechukwu Ewa from Uan community in Boki area of Cross River State and Innocent Kingsley, 31, a native of Egbu community Etche local government area of Rivers State.

The state commissioner of police, Ben Nobolisa Okolo, while parading the suspected kidnappers in Yenagoa, said the command had been inundated with reported cases of kidnaping, armed robbery and cultism. He said the state security strategy has been rejigged with a special focus on tackling kidnapping and armed robbery. “The strategy paid off with the recent arrest of members of a notorious kidnapping gang by operatives of Operation Restore Peace and this gang has been responsible for over ten (10) high profile kidnaping in the State over a period of seven years,” he stated.

According to Okolo, the arrest of the high-profile kidnap gang was made possible by a detailed investigation by the operatives of the Operation Puff Adder now known as Operation Restore Peace headed by commander SP Chris Nwaogbo.
