The Quick Response Squad and Surveillance Team of the Delta State Police Command have raided the hideouts of suspected kidnappers and armed robbers in Kwale.
Three locally made guns, two Pump Action Guns, one AK 47 Magazine, 34 rounds of live cartridges, and 51 rounds of AK 47 ammunition were recovered.
The squad led by SP Osadolor Godwin on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at about 1140hrs led a surveillance team attached to Kwale Division, and stormed the criminal hideout in an uncompleted building where two suspects upon sighting the police opened fire and escaped in the process.
Meanwhile, police operatives on special assignment in Ughelli, and led by ASP Julius Robinson, have also stormed Jesse junction to effect the arrest of one Ufoma Omene, 55, of Mosogar, in Ethiope West LGA Delta State, while acting on credible intelligence.
Upon the search of the suspect’s residence, a locally fabricated AK-47 Rifle with a Revolver Magazine and 13 rounds of 7.6mm ammunition were recovered.
In addition to his involvement in a series of crimes in that area, he is also suspected of being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.
However, the police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said efforts were being made to arrest the fleeing suspects, and added that the investigation is ongoing.
