This is part of the efforts of the Command to combat infrastructure vandalism in the nation’s capital.

The latest recovery was made in Dei-Dei, a suburb of the FCT following a tip-off from a vigilant resident.

Current recovery brings the total number of recovered manhole covers in the FCT to 125.

FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh said the stolen items were found hidden in a pit, marking another success in the ongoing battle against the theft and destruction of public assets.

Adeh said this recovery follows a significant operation last week, where the FCT Police, in partnership with the Joint Task Force (JTF) set up by the Minister of the FCT, Barr Nyesom Wike intercepted and recovered several stolen public assets.

Reacting to this, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, reiterated the Command’s firm stance against vandalism, warning criminals to desist or face legal consequences.

“We are intensifying efforts to dismantle networks involved in infrastructure theft. Our operatives will continue to search for stolen public assets and uncover illegal storage sites,” Disu said.

The CP thanked residents for their cooperation and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

For reporting vandalism and other crimes, the FCT Police Command has provided the following emergency contact numbers: 08032003913 | 08028940883 | 07057337653; Complaint Response Unit: 08107314192; Public Complaint Bureau: 09022222352.
