The Kano State Police Command has recovered a stolen Pontiac Vibe and arrested three suspects believed to be operating an interstate vehicle theft syndicate across Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Gombe States.

According to a press statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, “A resident of Danbare Quarters, Gwale LGA, Kano State, reported at the Command that her unregistered Pontiac Vibe vehicle, blue in colour, was stolen from her residence at about 0300hrs by unknown persons.”

The statement noted that acting on the report, operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, “immediately swung into action” and, through intelligence-led investigation, recovered the stolen vehicle from an uncompleted building in Dutse LGA, Jigawa State.

Three suspects were arrested in connection with the theft. They include 37-year-old Shuaibu Abdullahi of Gombe State, 24-year-old Shuaibu Zakariya of Bauchi State, and 35-year-old Abdurahman Ibrahim, also of Gombe State. The Command said the suspects are believed to be part of an organised interstate criminal network and are currently assisting investigators.

Commending the operation, CP Bakori praised the SIS operatives for what the Command described as their “professionalism, swift response, and intelligence-driven approach” which led to the recovery of the vehicle outside the State.
