The Kaduna State Police Command has said that it repelled bandits’ attack on Idissu village, Idissu Ward, Bayan Kogi axis of Giwa local government area of the State, neutralised two notorious bandits and recovered firearms.

In a statement by the Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, he explained that on Sunday, January 11, 2026, the Command received credible intelligence that a syndicate of armed bandits, led by one Kachalla Sanusi Bajira, was mobilising to attack residents of Idisu Village.

Police said the bandit leader was said to have imposed an illegal levy on the community, which the villagers failed to pay. “However, upon their failure to comply, the said Kachalla threatened to ravage the community.”

The statement said, “Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, immediately directed the Officer-in-Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, to the community. The OC promptly led a team of operatives in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to Idissu Village, Idissu Ward, Bayan Kogi axis of Giwa LGA.

“On arrival, the operatives discovered that the armed bandits had laid an ambush. Upon sighting the Police, the bandits engaged the team in a gun duel. However, the attackers were overpowered by the superior firepower of the Police operatives, resulting in the neutralisation of two bandits and recovery of their firearms, while others fled into the surrounding bushes.
During the operation, two firearms and five live ammunitions were recovered from the fleeing bandits.”
