Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have rescued two pastors, Reverend Father Mathew David Dusami of Yola Catholic Diocese and Reverend Father Abraham Samman of Jalingo Diocese ho were both kidnapped last month.
The police confirmed that the victims were rescued unhurt as no ransom was paid either by the church or relations of the victims to secure their freedom.
Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Dankombo Morris said a coordinated rescue operation was carried out at a particular criminal hideout situated at a remote side of Gwaida Malam village connecting part of Numan and Demsa LGAs leading to the rescue of the two clergymen.
The police further disclosed that one Tahamado Jonathan Demian, a 34-year-old member of the church with the victims was arrested.
CP Morris said locally fabricated assault rifle, sim card and mobile phone were recovered from the kidnappers’ den.
The police said the freed clergymen were now receiving medical attention while the suspect has been taken into custody for further investigation.
The CP also assured of peace and security across Adamawa State and beyond, and pledged diligent prosecution of the suspect.
