The Kwara State Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims in Igbonla community in the southern district of the state.
Police said the rescued kidnap victims include Kudus Wasiu, Fatima Wasiu and her six month-old daughter.
Spokesperson of the state police Command, Toun Ejire – Adeyemi, in a statement on Tuesday, said while intense efforts were in top gear to rescue the remaining two victims – Wasiu Salihu, Abdullahi Sefiu; and arrest the perpetrators.
“In another daring approach in the fight against kidnapping, banditry and all forms of criminality, the Kwara State Police Command under the pragmatic leadership of the commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo in yet another quick response, rescued victims of a kidnapping incident reported from Igbonla Community.
“Following a distress call on Sunday, 2nd November, 2025, that armed men gained access to a residential building shooting sporadically, a combined team of the police detectives, local vigilantes and hunters were quickly mobilised to the location.
“The swift action led to the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims unhurt; Fatima Wasiu, Kudus Wasiu, and her six months old daughter, while intense efforts are in top gear to rescue the remaining two victims Wasiu Salihu, Abdullahi Sefiu; and arrest the perpetrators,” Ejire-Adeyemi said.
Ejire- Adeyemi said, “The Commissioner of Police, calls on the citizenry to maintain the tempo of quick intelligence reporting and information sharing that will enable the Kwara State Police Command to discharge its duties in this swift manner in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.”
