The Kano State Police Command has reunited a missing teenager, initially identified as Alex Ansol, from Spain, with his family in Kano.

This was contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in Kano yesterday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) had reported that the police were searching for the relatives of Ansol, a 16-year-old boy from Spain found wandering in Dadin Kowa Village, Doguwa local government area of Kano.

Kiyawa said that the command’s investigation revealed that the teenager, who had claimed to be a Spanish national named Alex Ansol, was in fact Yusuf Sabiu, 16 years old.

He said that his parents had been traced and identified as Saminu Yusuf, 44, of Lere local government Area of Kaduna State, while his mother is Habiba Adam, 35, from Plateau State.

“Further findings showed that the parents have been separated for over 13 years. The command appreciates the media and social media users who promptly shared the initial report. Your swift circulation of the information played a key role in tracing the family and achieving this positive outcome,” he said.

The command urged parents and guardians to report missing persons to the nearest police station immediately.

Kiyawa said that timely reporting helps the police to respond swiftly and ensures the safety of loved ones.

The command also advised separated or divorced parents to maintain open communication regarding their children’s welfare.

“A stable support system, irrespective of family differences, helps protect children from wandering and exposure to danger,” he said.
