The commissioner of police in Anambra State, Ikioye Orutugu, has appealed to residents of Oko community in Orumb-North local government to help the state police command in tracking down the criminals who killed two persons and abducted two others in the area on Friday night.
Orutugu made the plea yesterday when he interacted with some leaders of the community led by chairman of the local government area, Mr. Casmir Nwafor.
The police boss assured that the criminals must be tracked down to face the full weight of the law for their actions.
A gang of criminals operating in a motorbike and a black 350 Lexus SUV had stormed the Total Junction and Tipper Junction on Friday night, shooting sporadically and in the process killed two persons and abducted two others.
Two other persons including a woman were said to have received gunshots during the attack viewed as cult-related incident but were rescued by the joint security team and taken to a hospital.
Spokesman of the state police command SP Tochukwu Ikenga said CP Orutugu assured of the commitment of the command to arrest the criminals and to provide adequate security in the community, including the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, as well as the students’ hostels.
