The syndicate, which had been terrorsing motorists, was caught using stones to barricade a portion along the Kano-Zaria Road, forcing drivers to stop. They would then tie up the drivers and steal their valuables.
Parading the suspects, the police spokesman in the state, Sadiq Abubakar said the command recovered 94 bundles of wrappers and lace materials, as well as two bundles of other materials, all valued at about N4 million.

He stated that investigations revealed that the suspects had also stolen grains and cooking oil on different dates and times, using two motor vehicles to facilitate their crime, adding that a Volkswagen Golf III saloon and a Ford Focus, were recovered loaded with the stolen items.

The police have also arrested three suspects in possession of an illegal firearm, a locally fabricated gun with four rounds of live ammunition.
