Pope Leo XIV and the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, have reaffirmed the importance of reopening all forms of dialogue.
The agreement came during a phone call between the Roman Catholic pontiff and the Israeli official on Good Friday, April 3, 2026.
The press release from the Holy See affirming the call noted that reopening all possible channels of diplomatic dialogue is key to ending the ongoing conflict, with a hope of achieving lasting Peace throughout the Middle East.
The conversion also touched on the need to protect the civilian population and to promote respect for international and humanitarian law in times of war.
