Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Aminu Yusuf, has paid tribute to the outgoing director of the Public Affairs Department, Mrs Samiat Olabimpe Lawal.
He acknowledged her contributions to the commission and pledged continuity in leadership and policy implementation.
At her sent-forth ceremony, Yusuf described Mrs Lawal as a dedicated public servant whose mentorship had eased his transition into office.
“Madam, I want to thank you for serving the commission and, by extension, serving the country. You are retired, but you are not tired. You remain dear to my heart, and I will ensure that your recommendations continue to benefit the commission and the nation,” he said.
The chairman noted that all directors, including retiring staff, had begun keying into his seven-point agenda, the strategic plan guiding the commission’s operations.
He said retired staff members would continue to be engaged and recognised for their service.
“You cannot work for this commission; leave and be forgotten. Every effort will be made to acknowledge your contributions,” he added.
Yusuf also commended the director-general and other officials for embracing the agenda, which, he said, had received broad support, including from the United Nations (UN).
