The National Assembly Primary Election Appeal Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has commenced the receipt of petitions and appeals from aspirants following the National House of Representatives Primary Elections conducted last Saturday across the eleven Federal Constituencies in the state.

Speaking during the inaugural sitting of the Committee at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Abdulaziz Mashi, assured aspirants and stakeholders that the committee would discharge its responsibilities with fairness, transparency and strict adherence to the guidelines of the party.

Prof. Mashi stated that the committee was constituted to ensure that grievances arising from the conduct of the primaries were thoroughly reviewed in the interest of justice, party unity and internal democracy.

The statement issued by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Benedict Yawe, on Monday, quoted Mashi as saying, “The committee is committed to giving every petitioner a fair hearing. We are here to ensure that the process remains credible, transparent and in line with the democratic principles of our great party.”

The Secretary of the Committee, Hon. Mohammed Sani, reaffirmed the committee’s determination to carry out its assignment diligently and professionally, noting that all submissions and appeals would receive the attention they deserve.

He further disclosed that the Appeal Committee would reconvene by today 5:00 p.m. for the onward review of petitions and appeals already received from aggrieved aspirants.

Omale expressed confidence in the ability of the committee to handle the appeals process fairly and urged aspirants and party supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to the unity and progress of the party.
