Primeville Schools Unveil Student Anthology, Urge Graduates To Pursue Excellence

Primeville Preparatory School yesterday unveiled a new student anthology during its 2026 graduation, speech and prize-giving ceremony in Abuja, urging its graduating students to continue striving for excellence.

The anthology, titled ‘Waves of Piercing Voices’ was written by members of the school’s Creative Minds Club and compiled by the Head of the Language Department, Mr David Isaac.

The piece is a reflection on social issues, promoting creativity, critical thinking and self-expression.

Speaking during the event, the creative teacher, Isaac said the Waves of Piercing Voices was sequel to the school’s 2024 publication.

“We deliberately chose the title because we believe the students’ voices have evolved. Before, their voices were morphed, but now they are piercing because they are discussing issues affecting society from their own observations,” he said.

According to him, the publication provides a platform for students to express their opinions while inspiring young writers to explore the limitless possibilities of creativity.

“It serves as a platform for students to air their views and encourages young writers to tap into the boundless aspects of their creativity,” he added.

Isaac said storytelling and poetry had already begun making a positive impact on the students, noting that many had gained confidence and were representing the school in various competitions.

“We have seen students become more confident. Some have been invited to several competitions where they express themselves and showcase their talents.

“It has also improved their academic performance because creativity strengthens their ability to think and learn,” he stated.

However, he observed that creativity, particularly in the arts, still receives less attention than science subjects in many Nigerian schools.

Isaac noted that his passion for nurturing young writers stemmed from his own experience.

“I believe there is a vacuum that needs to be filled. Too much emphasis is placed on the sciences, while the arts are often overlooked. Yet many successful personalities today have built careers in the creative industry. Schools should provide more opportunities for students to develop their creative talents.

“I never had such opportunities when I was in school, so I have made it my responsibility to ensure the younger generation enjoys that privilege. That is why we continue to provide platforms for students to express themselves,” he said.

Commending parents for their support, he said the graduation ceremony was a celebration of the students’ academic achievements.

“We recorded remarkable academic excellence this session, and I am delighted that parents came out in large numbers to celebrate with the students. We should continue encouraging them because the future is not tomorrow; the future is now,” he said.

He further urged the graduating students not to relent in pursuing their dreams.

“Keep pushing because the sky is just the starting point,” he said.

As part of the ceremony, the school honoured outstanding students for exceptional academic performance.

The 2026 UTME top performer in the, Seun Joshua, who scored 320, received an award worth over N500,000.

Also, the overall best graduating student, Joseph Koida, was presented with a cash prize of N200,000.

Finalists in the school’s Spelling Bee competition and outstanding Mathematics students were also recognised for their achievements during the ceremony, amongst numerous others.
