In a bid to boost civic engagement among young people in Ogun State, the YAYI Youth Vanguard has launched an extensive campaign to encourage youth and students to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
At the group’s monthly meeting, State Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Ojo, emphasised that voter registration remains a key tool for youth empowerment, political inclusion, and responsible citizenship.
“We cannot talk about good governance or political change without first talking about voter participation. Every young person must see obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) as the first and most important step in deciding who governs us.” he said
Ojo also underscored the importance of civic responsibility, stressing that the PVC is a crucial instrument for participation and influence in the electoral process.
“Your PVC is your power. It is the only tool that gives you the right to speak through the ballot box and it is what we will use to make Senator Yayi become the Governor of our State. We are calling on all students and youth across Ogun State to get registered, collect their PVCs, and get ready to make their voices count.”
He further encouraged members to remain loyal to their principal and reaffirmed the group’s support for Senator Adeola YAYI’s governorship ambition.
“Our loyalty is our strength. YAYI Youth Vanguard has become an household name and it is open to every young Progressive to be part of,” Ojo added, reminding attendees of the group’s guiding slogan: ‘Together we can deliver YAYI’.
The initiative is designed to strengthen youth participation in democratic processes, equipping first-time voters with the knowledge and resources needed to influence governance through the ballot box.
Members of the YAYI youth Vanguard have been actively engaging campuses, communities, and youth centers across Ogun State, educating young people about the importance of obtaining their PVCs and fulfilling their civic duties during elections.
The group’s monthly meeting brought together State Executives, Senatorial Coordinators, Local Government Coordinators, and other executives to strategise on grassroots mobilization, reinforce political awareness, and consolidate loyalty ahead of upcoming political activities.
