Katsina State governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the dualisation of the Daura Ring Road next year.

He described the 14.43-kilometre bypass project valued at ₦19.55 billion as a critical investment in the state’s transportation network.

Speaking in Daura during his ongoing local government engagement tour, Governor Radda said the dualisation project will ease movement around the ancient city, reduce congestion, and open new economic corridors for residents and travellers.

The governor explained that the project is part of broader efforts to modernise infrastructure across Katsina State and is designed to support the increasing traffic flow in Daura, especially as the town continues to grow as a commercial and administrative centre.

“We are committed to completing the 14.43-kilometre dualisation of the Daura bypass road. This project is a major priority for us,” he said

Governor Radda noted that the dualisation will improve safety, enhance connectivity, and support businesses that rely on smooth road networks for transportation of goods and services.

He added that the bypass will help decongest the town centre and provide a faster route for commuters.

The governor used the occasion to reiterate his administration’s focus on people-centred development, stressing that his statewide tour is meant to reconnect with citizens, understand their needs, and ensure government projects align with community priorities.

Residents of Daura expressed optimism that the dualised bypass will ease traffic pressure, attract investment, and strengthen economic activities in the area once completed.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening community development and delivering people-oriented projects as he continued his statewide local government tour in Daura on Monday.

Governor Radda said the tour was designed to reconnect with citizens two years after the 2023 elections, understand their current needs, and ensure government programmes remain aligned with grassroots priorities.

Disclosing further that the Daura General Hospital has been officially transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) to enhance healthcare delivery, he added that the state government is constructing a new general hospital in the area, with completion set for next year.

In addition, he acknowledged recent interventions spearheaded by the speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Nasir Yahaya who awarded scholarships to over 600 students, describing it as a step that complements the administration’s human-capital development goals.

He assured residents of Daura that his government will continue to support community development initiatives and maintain close engagement with citizens to ensure their needs remain at the centre of its policies.
