The Kano State Hisbah Board has prohibited commercial tricycle operators from wearing three-quarter trousers while riding throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The directive was announced on Wednesday by the Deputy Commander-General of the board, Mujahid Aminuddeen, in a statement.

The statement also outlined other prohibitions for tricycle operators during Ramadan, including “playing loud music that disturbs passengers or the public, putting up pornographic posters or stickers on tricycles, as well as carrying passengers, male and female by their sides and allowing mixed-gender seating arrangements.”

The board also revealed “using knockouts anywhere in the metropolis and indecent clothing of any kind is prohibited.”

Aminuddeen added that Hisbah operatives would be deployed to mosques conducting Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers to work alongside other security agencies in maintaining order and safety.

He emphasised that the board would not tolerate immoral behaviour, particularly during Ramadan, a sacred period devoted to fasting, prayer, charity, and spiritual reflection.

“The board has concluded arrangements to ensure compliance with these directives and will enforce the law fully against offenders,” he said.

Ramadan is observed by Muslims as a month of obedience, self-discipline, and devotion to God, and the Hisbah Board stressed that the measures aimed to uphold moral conduct and public decency during this period.
