The governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, has urged residents of the state to intensify prayers for peace, unity and sustained development, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

The governor made the call on Wednesday at the Second Annual Ramadan Lecture organised by the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) with the theme, ‘Peaceful Coexistence and Patriotism: The Islamic Perspective.’

Represented by the director-general of the Kaduna State Bureau of Interfaith, Barr. Tahir Umar Tahir, the governor emphasised that peaceful coexistence and patriotism remain fundamental pillars for stability and development in the state.

He commended the organisers for initiating and sustaining the annual lecture series, noting that such platforms encourage dialogue, deepen mutual understanding and promote religious harmony among the diverse people of Kaduna State.

The governor also highlighted the teachings and traditions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), stressing that Islam strongly promotes peace, tolerance and harmonious living among people of different backgrounds.

According to him, the theme of the lecture is timely, as peaceful coexistence remains critical to strengthening unity and advancing development across Kaduna State.

Earlier, the state commissioner for information, Ahmed Maiyaki, explained that the initiative, which began last year, was designed to promote unity and strengthen bonds among the people of Kaduna State.

He noted that the theme of the lecture aligns with the peace and security agenda of the Uba Sani administration, which places strong emphasis on dialogue and conflict prevention.

The commissioner added that the Kaduna State Government has continued to implement the Kaduna Peace Model, a strategy focused on early conflict detection and proactive engagement with religious leaders, traditional rulers, youth and women groups to prevent crises.

According to him, the approach has contributed to improved stability in several parts of the state and enabled farmers in communities such as Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Kajuru and Kauru to return to their farms.

He, therefore, urged residents to support government efforts by promoting harmony and respecting the rule of law in their communities.

In his remarks, the managing director of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), Ben Kure, said the Ramadan lecture was organised as part of the corporation’s commitment to promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and responsible citizenship among the people of Kaduna State.
