Katsina State government plans to construct 14 structures in each of the 10 local government areas (LGAs) of the state that are mostly affected by bandits’ attacks.
Briefing journalists yesterday after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at Government House, Katsina, the special adviser to the governor on livestock development, Lawal Bagiwa, said that the government had approved the sum of N3.5 billion for the project.
He said the sum of N350 million would be spent on each of the front lines LGAs of Jibia, Batsari, Kurfi, Dutsi-ma, Safana, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa, Dandume and others, for the construction of the structures.
The governor’s aide said the idea was to solve the lingering dispute between farmers and herders which had graduated to cattle rustling and banditry.
Some of the proposed structures, he said, are primary schools, solar boreholes, resting points, ponds, grazing areas and mosques.
