Rangers International chairman, Amobi Ezeaku, has reaffirmed that Technical Adviser Fidelis Ilechukwu will remain in charge of the club ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, putting an end to speculation surrounding the coach’s future.
Ezeaku made the clarification while speaking with journalists in Enugu, insisting that the club has no plans to part ways with the highly-rated tactician.
The Rangers chairman revealed that discussions had already taken place with Ilechukwu regarding challenges encountered during the just-concluded campaign and assured supporters that the management would provide the necessary support to help the coach achieve greater success next season.
Ilechukwu has earned widespread praise for his work with the Flying Antelopes, guiding the club to their ninth NPFL title and restoring Rangers’ status as one of the leading sides in Nigerian football.
Addressing rumours linking the coach with a possible departure, Ezeaku stated that Rangers remain committed to continuity and stability.
“I will be direct; the young tactician will remain with the club next season,” Ezeaku said when asked about any plans to replace Ilechukwu.
“I spoke with Ilechukwu upon his arrival in Portugal with the Super Eagles. He informed me of some of the challenges he faced, and we have assured him that they will be addressed ahead of next season.”
With Rangers set to return to continental football, Ilechukwu is expected to lead the club’s campaign in the CAF Champions League, where the Enugu-based side will aim to make a significant impact.
