Rangers General Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, has implored his players to put their recent league triumph behind them and fully concentrate on securing the President Federation Cup.
The newly crowned Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, affectionately known as the ‘Flying Antelopes’, are set to face Rivers United in the Round of 32 of the prestigious cup competition.
The crucial encounter is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Ezeaku issued a stern warning to his squad, anticipating a challenging match against the Port Harcourt-based side.
“Congratulations, boys, on winning the NPFL title. But you should put that behind you right now and focus on the next game, which is the Federation Cup Round of 32 match against Rivers United,” Ezeaku was quoted by Completesports.
“You know it’s going to be a tough game because they will throw everything into the match. We denied them the league title, so they will come fully prepared to win this one.”
Ezeaku stressed that the euphoria of their league success should not distract the team from their pursuit of a historic domestic double.
“You must not allow your celebrations to be cut short. Is it a bad thing for us to win the double? So, all attention and focus should be geared towards the game,” he urged, highlighting the importance of maintaining focus for their cup aspirations.
