Nigerian comedian Real Warri Pikin has apologised to Nigerians following reactions to a viral video showing singer Timaya lifting her during his performance at the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, Texas.

The comedian, who recently won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at the ceremony, explained that she had been backstage enjoying the show when Timaya asked a woman to join him on stage.

According to Real Warri Pikin, she initially declined because she did not want to jump onto the stage. She eventually joined the singer after he reassured her that she would be fine.

She said she did not expect Timaya to lift her during his performance of his hit song, “Ukwu.”

Addressing the reactions to the viral footage, the comedian appealed to Nigerians to be lenient with her, saying she took responsibility for what happened.

“Nigerians, please take it easy on me, I’m really sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions. Na me put myself for this one,” she said.
